Who We Are

The MIT-THU Future City Innovation Connector (FCIC), jointly established by MIT and Tsinghua University, is a new program in MIT’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. designX is MIT’s program for accelerating innovation in design, cities and the built environment. In 2018, FCIC and designX jointly launched the inaugural China Venture Workshop, bringing the best MIT urban innovations to the largest and most diversified urbanization market in the world.

What We Do

We identify the real urban development issues that need to be addressed urgently. We select the most competent and innovative MIT teams, who have their prototype ready, are committed to solving urban problems, and are interested in developing business in China. We prepare these teams with the most relevant knowledge and hand them the market-launching tools. We locate the best pilot project site for the teams to test their innovations, and connect them with abundant resources from the government, market, industry and corporations. Moreover, we walk the teams through the entire process and provide them with a full range of support to maximize their growing opportunities to make real impact in future city development.

Program Feature Highlights

  • Two-week travel and learning in China with all expenses covered

  • Dive deeply into the Chinese market: China-Launch lectures, on-site courses, and networking events
